I was so excited when I won this ARC in an Instagram giveaway from Katherine Tegen Books! Now that I’ve finished The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy, I’ve been oscillating between 4/4.5 star rating before settling on 4 stars, because I was engrossed in the book while reading it, but it wasn’t one that left me thinking about it for days afterwards. Although not as action-packed as The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, this was still a fun read. This review will contain minor spoilers for The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
I think this book would be great for people who enjoy:
- Strong Female Protagonists
- Historical Fiction
- Girl Gangs
- Minority Representation

I picked up this book, because I was just going through my kindle and trying to find a quick, light read after reading Legendary. It was a quick read, but it did deal with some heavier topics. Normally, contemporary books take me awhile to get into, but I read Unveiling the Sky in a day.

Legendary was definitely a lot better than Caraval, but there were still some minor issues that I had with it which were because of personal preference. Legendary follows the story of Scarlett’s younger sister, Donatella, as she plays Caraval this time around but the stakes are so much higher.

Although this book didn’t rip out my heart like Illuminae did, it was still a fascinating read that takes place right where Illuminae ended. Gemina follows different protagonists at the Heimdall space station. Also, yes I am aware that I read this book a month ago and I’m just posting it now.

If you need me, I’ll be in the corner crying over how much this book has broken my heart. Illuminae should honestly should have a disclaimer that it will rip out your heart and you will cry a lot. Illuminae is one of the few books that I went into with high expectations and wasn’t disappointed.
You’ll also enjoy this book if you’re a fan of:
- Creative Book Format
- Books that hit you right in the feels
- Books that make you cry
- Fast-paced read
- Plot twists GALORE

I saw a lot of mixed reviews for this book on Goodreads, so I decided to give it a try for myself. I loved the concept of Caraval and learning more about the game and how it’s played. Although, I was annoyed by Scarlett for the entirety of this book, it was an enjoyable read overall.
To start off I think that this book would be great for people that enjoy:
- Action in the first chapter
- Fast-paced novels
- Mysterious characters
- “Bad Boy” trope
- Scavenger hunts

Honestly, I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with my website for the longest time. I’ve decided that I’ll turn my blog into mostly book reviews, but sprinkled with some random articles about topics that interest me. I’ll start with reviewing a book that I read recently but has become one of my favorites! This book is An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir!
