Summer Reading Book Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Bookish Paige to do this tag! I think this is a perfect one to do since my summer vacation just started recently as well, so I have more time to read and relax!

1. What three books do you want to read this summer?

These are three fantasy books that I want to read this summer. Town of Dawn is the last book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas that I need to read before the final book, Kingdom of Ash, comes out in October. Legendary is the sequel to Caraval that I have been dying to get my hands on. The last book is one that I bought because I’ve heard only good things about The Savage Song, so I wanted to see what the hype was about.

2. Which character most embodies the traits of summer?

(photo taken from the wiki, credit to the artist!)

The first character that comes to mind is Elain from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. She is sweet and literal sunshine. I also ship Elriel, my bat baby Az deserves all the sunshine in the world.

3. What book do you most associate with the physicality of summer?

I guess I would say anything by Sarah Dessen, although for some reason Along for the Ride specifically comes to mind. I haven’t read any of her books since high school, but they all have adorable romances that I associate with the summertime.

4. What kind of books do you like to read on holiday? Any books that hold memories to certain places?

There is no one kind of book that I would say I specifically read during holidays. I don’t have any books that hold memories to certain places other than possibly Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark because I vividly remember being told scary stories while on vacation in California as a child. I left out the picture for this section, because the book covers are kind of creepy.

5. If you could you go on holiday with any author, who would you go with and where? What would you want to know?

Mackenzi Lee

I’m not sure, because I think most authors I read are quite a bit older than me and are probably interested in different things than I am. If I were able to grab coffee/dinner with any author, I’d probably choose Mackenzi Lee, because I’d want to talk to her about how happy I am with the representation in her books and about what inspired her to write them.

6. What’s your book of the year so far?

Book of the year is so hard…I’ve read so many great books, but I’d probably say the entirety of the An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir. Everything is amazing and I do not think I’ve found anything I’ve disliked about her novels.

7. How did you spend your summer holidays as a child?

I have always had a love of traveling from when I was younger to now. I went on family vacations basically every summer! Some of the most memorable have been cruises to the Bahamas, going to the Philippines, and visiting Hawaii. I’m grateful to have a family that enjoys seeing the world as much as I do.

8. What are your plans this summer?

Honestly, the only big plan I had this summer other than taking summer classes was my family road trip to Chicago which happened last week! I’ll just be spending the rest of summer at home reading and preparing to get finally get my license. Wish me luck!

That’s all for this tag! I tag anyone that reads this and would like to do it as well!

  1. Oh do let me know how Legendary is, I’m hoping to start Caraval soon! And I see what you mean about Sarah Dessen! I’ve only read her Once and For All book but adored it, it also felt very summery too!

    1. I definitely will! I hope to get to Legendary sometime later this week. Yes! Sarah Dessen books are sweet, summery reads that I wish I still read, but haven’t felt like picking one up since high school.
